FiveNotes 3 overview

FiveNotes is an app that allows you to take notes. Five notes. Why five? We’ve found that number to be great. Enough to take a few different notes. Enough to keep them clean.

The app floats over other window, even if they’re in full-screen mode.

I'd really love to have 5 notes, but to tell the truth, it is very limiting in today's information overload. If the developer insists on 5 notes, then would it be possible to create 5 sets of 5 notes in each ? Or whatever developer prefers. This way it can be much more useful.

One of the screenshots for this app show a dark mode but I don't see that in the preferences in the app. Is there a menu bar option in the system settings that makes the whole top bar in dark mode?

I've been using this for a few weeks and finally have discovered where it fits into my daily workflow. When I have an idea that I know I will want to reference at a later time I will jot it in one of my notes. Then as I need it later I cut it out of the note and I free up one of the five again for later. The best feature of these notes is that the menu item will stay active even when I click out of it so I can use it as a reference and continually add new thoughts to it. Great for notetaking while reading an article, or creating a temporary to-do list whilst going through email. It has more than a few uses and will stay in my menu bar for a while.
